From simple beginnings ........
Onneley Golf Club was formed in the mid-80s as a 9-hole course, on rented land. A fund was established by the members to help towards the ultimate dream of developing a member-owned 18 hole golf course. The purchase of the freehold, clubhouse and car park took place in 1993.
Additional land was acquired in 1997, when four more holes and a small practice area were developed. These, together with a practice putting green, came into play in 1999.
Negotiations were commenced in 2002 to purchase further land to extend the course to 18 holes.
........ to a dream come true!
Onneley Golf Club opened its member-owned 18-hole golf course in May 2005. This beautiful parkland course is 5740 yards long, (par 70; SSS 68) with panoramic views across three counties. There is an ongoing improvement program for the original greens and fairways and the newer fairways and greens are becoming well-established, providing a testing course for golfers of all standards. The clubhouse has been extended and refurbished with a new kitchen, dining room, lockers and associated facilities, and a halfway house provides welcome refreshment on major competition days.
Whilst Onneley Golf Club is relatively modest, it is renowned for its friendliness and warmth of welcome. As a private members club it is very proud of the high standards it maintains and of the facilities it can offer to visitors and societies.
